As part of the 2026 Anima Festival, Les Grignoux will present Allah Is Not Obliged in a premiere event. Audiences from Liège will have the opportunity to discover this adaptation of the eponymous novel by Ahmadou Kourouma, which previously captivated audiences at the 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where it was selected for the Official Competition, and on which Waooh! contributed to the animation.
This special screening will take place at La Sauvenière cinema in Liège on February 24th at 8:15 pm, and will be followed by a Q&A with the film’s director, Zaven Najjar.
The film tells the story of Birahima, a Guinean orphan of about ten years old, who, with the help of four dictionaries and a great deal of irony, recounts how he becomes a child soldier while attempting to reach his aunt in Liberia.
