Zaven Najjar’s feature film is a powerful story adapted from Ahmadou Kourouma’s novel Allah Is Not Obliged (Prix Renaudot in 2000). Produced by Special Touch and Need Productions, Waooh! is in charge of a consequent part of the animation.

Allah is not obliged was presented in the Work In Progress section of the Annecy festival in 2024 and was be back in competition at the 2025 edition of the very same festival where it received a standing ovation by the audience !

The story is about Birahima, a ten-year-old Guinean orphan. He tells us with the help of four dictionaries and a lot of irony how he became a child soldier when he tried to join his aunt in Liberia.
